Max sits, staring
at the backdoor screen.
She walks,
step-step, step-step, closer to the doorway,
eyes
never wavering from
the
silhouette of a newly-hatched basilisk lizard
clinging
to the screen.
Slowly, gently, she reaches out her paw, touches the screen.
In an instant, the tiny
basilisk leaps away, disappearing off the deck.
Max sits, staring
at the backdoor screen,
waiting for her friend to return.
Thank you for your visit to my snowdrop scene! What a beautiful piece: Max must be feeling proud, and I hope the lizard is OK!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have some interesting critters there. Hope Max has good luck finding friends outside the house.

Glad she didn't catch the lizard. That is a great shot--typical cat. Interesting that you live in Belize--we went there a few years ago and had a great time.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Wilma, for your visit. Are you still blogging, I wonder?
